Happy Spring to All!
Hope your spring break was a blast for you and yours. As far as holidays go, I guess our next great (albeit local) event is Fiesta 2005! This calls for a real mix of colors in our creations. Orange, lime green, and a touch of yellow should help blend in with this great local happening.
Our next general meeting will be held on Wednesday,April 13, 2005. This is the month in which SABOS elects new officers for the 2005 – 2006 membership year. Please come and show your support by voting for the candidates that you feel can make a difference in this organization. Also, we do have a few vacancies, which we would like to fill. Won’t you consider stepping up and help guide the direction of this fine group?
We will have 3 vendors for this meeting. They are Adriana Spencer with "Adriana’s Bead Creations", Clara Cueva and Ernie Gonzalez with "Bead Charmers", and "My Neighbor and Me", which actually is my neighbor (and SABOS member) Marge Anderson and myself selling some of our personal collection of beads. There will be the opportunity to shop with Adriana, who is just back from Tucson with loads of goodies, Clara and Ernie have an assortment of semi-precious beads, and my neighbor and I will have a variety of glass and semi-precious beads. Come and see what these vendors have to offer.
With our annual bead bazaar rapidly approaching, we are still looking for volunteers. The dates for this annual event are Saturday, April 30, 2005 and Sunday, May 1, 2005. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Kathleen Messina by email if you can spare a couple of hours on either of our show dates. In return for your time, SABOS will be setting up a table to sell items made by our volunteer members (yet another incentive to give us a few hours of your time). Feel free to contact Kathleen should you have any further questions.
Out last "official" class of this membership year will be taking place on Saturday, April 9, 2005 and Sunday, April 9, 2005. The class, "Silver Wire Weaving & Knitting" with Munya Avigail Upin, is almost full. This class is limited to 10 participants. The cost for this 2-day workshop is $110 (a class fee of $80 and a kit fee of $30). This class will be held at the Courtyard Marriott located at 8615 Broadway. There is a supply list posted on our website. In addition, the instructor has specifically asked that workshop participants refrain from wearing fragrances to this class. Please contact Tonia Sacerich via email for space availability.
We have but two more meetings before this membership year ends. I hope to see you on the 13th!
Happy Beading to All!
