Changes to our By-Laws
Below, for member review, are the Changes to the Amended Bylaws of The San Antonio Bead and Ornament Society identified by the committee. These will be voted on at the October general meeting. For your reference, a copy of the existing by-laws may be downloaded here. (requires Adobe Reader ).
Proposed By-Law Changes
- Article II -Membership and Dues
- Section 2. ... The annual dues shall be payable on June 1.
- Section 3. Members whose dues are not paid by June 1, shall be dropped automatically...
- Section 4. Guests will be welcome to attend one meeting, after which membership will be required. Delete with the exception of employees of business members......
- Section 5. The Board may propose honorary memberships each year. ... The honoree is entitled to dues-free membership for the following membership year.
- Article V -Officers Duties and Powers
- Section 1. Add the word treasurer to the list of officers.
- Section 2. The president shall have the authority to call for a vote of the general members, in writing and through the mail with a return post card post paid, or e-mail.
- Section 5. The treasurer shall collect all dues and keep a full and accurate account of all receipts and pay bills as directed by the approved budget and Board of Directors.
- Article VI -Committees
- Section 1. ...standing committee chair people as follows: delete nominating and audit, and add raffle.
- Article VII -Fiscal Year
- Section 2. The Board of Directors shall annually prepare and approve a budget covering the needs of this organization for such expenses as it deems necessary to carry out the purposes of this organization and present it to the members by the first meeting of the fiscal year.
- Article VIII -Nominations and Elections
- Section 1. ...delete and voted on in April.
- Section 3. Introduction of officers will be at the May meeting and they shall assume their duties on June 1.
- Article X -Amendments
- Section 1. c. Affirmative votes of two-thirds of the members present and voting and, a quorum present shall be necessary for ratification of amendments.
- Section 2. Delete The standing rules may be revised or amended at any regular meeting of the Board of Directors and be voted on at any regular meeting of the organization by two-thirds vote of those present.
- Standing Committees and Rules
- Rule 3. Telephone - The telephone committee chairperson shall keep a current list of all members on the phone tree. Delete and their telephone numbers.
- Rule 4. Special Projects - The special projects chairperson may be called on to work on any special project that has been approved by the Board of Directors including the May Meeting and the Bead Bazaar.
